Aburound House

Aburound House is on Woodlands Road in Gillingham.  The building is in need of refurbishment but work is underway.  A brand new kitchen has been fitted so that we can train independent living skills and a new accessible toilet has been installed.  We are aiming to develop the main area in the centre to provide various activities including exercise sessions, drama, music and more.  The main area is also available for hire to the local community.  The garden area has been transformed over the last year and with the recruitment of a Horticultural Worker we are establishing a vibrant horticultural and gardening project.

Despite the building needing refurbishment we are running activities within the centre and the Aburound House Steering Group is working to develop services in the building for Medway users. The aim is to provide a well planned and integrated service to meet the needs of individual service users in Medway who are able to make their own choices about the activities they carry out.

There is a Monday Night Gateway Clubattended by over forty service users every Monday evening. 

On Tuesdays and Fridays we run a weekly gardening session for people who want to learn how to grow their own flowers or vegetables.  Drama and Music sessions take place on a Thursday for people who want to gain acting skills and develop an interest in music.  We also offer training in computer skills and cookery sessions on a Tuesday and Thursday.

Dance, Drama and Music Workshops

Following a successful application to Children in Need we will be running a Dance, Drama and Music Workshop for young people between the ages of 13 - 18 during the May Half Term; Tuesday 31st May - Friday 3rd June, 10.00am - 4.00pm.  Cost per day is £5.00 and children will need to bring a packed lunch.  We will also be running the workshop during the summer holidays from Monday 25th July - Friday 29th July.  For more information or to reserve a place please contact Becky Green on 01322 425 993 or email becky.green@dgsmyourchoice.org.uk
